We are an ensemble of committed and experienced amateur, student and professional musicians, playing under the expert guidance of conductor David Curtis. We play a huge variety of classical pieces throughout the year in various venues in and around Gloucestershire.

Young Composers’ Competition 2018

We’re delighted to announce our Young Composers’ Competition 2018. We invite eligible young composers to submit an original orchestral work for adjudication by our panel. We’ll play the winning piece in our public concert in Cheltenham Town Hall as part of our 50th anniversary season 2018-19. Details

2017-18 season

On 4 November, join the CSO in the Pittville Pump Room for an evening of Russian Magic. Borodin’s overture to Prince Igor conjures the folklore of the Russian past. Prokofiev produced one of his best ballet scores for Cinderella, recently successfully revived by the Birmingham Royal Ballet. To end, join Rimsky-Korsakov as he brings the Arabian Nights to life in his Scheherazade, brilliantly conceived and colourful

On 25 November we go to Pershore for the annual FOAG charity concert, where we’ll welcome violin soloist Benjamin Baker. In the new year our spring series of three Cheltenham concerts will be An English Celebration, including three English violin concertos.
