Inspiring performances in Cheltenham and around Gloucestershire
Welcome to Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra. We are an ensemble of committed and experienced amateurs, students, professionals and teachers, playing under the expert guidance of conductor David Curtis. Here you can find out about our concerts, and book tickets.
Concerts
We give about six concerts each year. Recently these have been in the Town Hall, Pittville Pump Room, Cheltenham Ladies’ College and All Saints’ Church in Cheltenham and in Gloucester Cathedral, Tewkesbury Abbey, Pershore Abbey and Cirencester Parish Church.
We regularly give concerts in aid of the local charities FOAG and Churn Community Hub.
Repertoire
The repertoire is varied. Since 2005 the orchestra has performed works by, among others, Beethoven, Elgar, Holst, Mahler, Rachmaninov, Richard Strauss, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky, as well as by living composers, including members of the orchestra.
Support
The orchestra is supported by the Patrons of Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra and by Cheltenham Arts Council, and is a member of Making Music.
You can support the Orchestra by becoming a Patron.
Management
The orchestra is managed by a committee which is appointed each year at the Annual General Meeting (generally in March). To contact any of the office-bearers, see Contacts
The orchestra is registered with the Charity Commission as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) with the number 1165359.
